Do you remember when the Easter holidays were all about home-made bonnets and egg-hunting? These days, it’s less about chocolate and more about revision. With the exam period fast-approaching, it’s time to prepare yourself for the stresses and strains of the revision period.
The pressures of SQA exams are ever-growing. What’s more, a single failure now means that students must re-sit their entire course. And it’s not just Higher and Advanced Higher that students contend with. National 5 also present a major hurdle for students. These, of course, are the final formal assessments they sit before making their university choices. Unfortunately, not all teenagers have the necessary organisational skills to structure their own revision.
For a student to succeed in their exams, revision is key. Poor revision planning leads to poor grades. If it’s a good university education your child is aiming for, success at National 5 is an absolute must. The job market is shrinking. And, at the same time, the pool of job-seeking graduates is growing. A degree from a well-respected university will really help your child to stand out, and to secure the job they want.
It’s important not to overlook National 5’s, either. Good universities simply don’t accept students with poor National 5 grades. It’s just as important to invest in exam success at National 5’s, as it is at Highers.
With so much at stake, many parents find that the best way to combat these pressures and to give their teenagers a fighting chance at success, is to enrol them on an Easter revision course. By doing so, parents can take some of the weight off their child’s shoulders, and put someone else in charge of their learning.
Although a student may apply themselves well, and dedicate a lot of time to exam prep, they might still struggle to achieve the grades they want. No two students are the same, and these performance shortfalls happen for a range of reasons. While one student may not know how to tackle their revision, another may struggle with nerves.
Regardless of the difficulties, a student is facing, our Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen Easter revision courses have been carefully created to get the very best out of every student. Whether it’s low motivation or a lack of direction that’s holding them back, we equip each student with the right tools for success.

There’s a lot to consider when taking control of revision. Students need to truly understand what it is they’re expected to know, and what’s going to be asked of them. The best way to master this is to use examples of real exam questions. Practicing with past exam papers helps students to read questions carefully, recall information, and present their knowledge concisely. Guided revision courses provide students with first-hand experience of the exam process. With experience comes confidence. And with confidence comes a better chance of success.
Our courses allow students to speak directly with teachers, and to ask questions about their revision. We take students away from the distractions of the home and help them to plan and execute their revision in a focused environment.
Scholar Tutoring Agency has been supporting school students since 2003 by providing one to one private tuition ONLY Recommend Qualified Teachers, Who Are (GTC) General Teaching Council Registered and that have a PVG (Disclosure Scotland) to help with school subjects.
From 2011 we have offered revision courses that focus specifically on preparing students for SQA examinations.
We’ve always had excellent feedback from our students. Not only do they tell us that they felt much more prepared for their exams, they also tell us that their confidence levels increased dramatically after attending the course.
Easter is crucial revision time
As we know, the early bird catches the worm. And exam preparation is no exception. Students who start revising early are much more likely to get the results they want. However, while the school term is still ongoing, effective revision is no mean feat.
Regular homework takes up valuable time in the evenings, even if this time might be better spent preparing for exams. Trying to pack revision time into the gaps can lead to a lack of sleep and a great deal of self-induced pressure.
When planning to revise during the Easter break, it’s important that students know what obstacles stand in their way. Whilst time might be on their side, many students fail to make the best use of the holiday period. If they don’t have a solid plan, and support from their families, many students will find that their revision isn’t as productive as they might have hoped.
A much better way to tackle this workload is to book onto a dedicated revision course. The Easter holiday is an excellent opportunity for students to kick-start their exam revision, get to grips with what they need to achieve, and to start their journey to success.
The Easter holiday allows students to commit five to seven hours per day to revision. This time is invaluable and allows students to really take charge of their learning. What’s more, students can take confidence from the fact that they have a good revision plan, and that they’ve already put the wheels in motion.
An Easter revision course can help
To really get the ball rolling, many students choose to attend an Easter revision course. This is the ideal way for them to ensure they’re heading in the right direction. It also provides students with the necessary structure, guidance, and assistance, to ensure their revision efforts are fruitful.
In recent years, more and more students have chosen to structure their learning in this way. And they really do see the benefit. Regardless of a student’s predicted grades, there is always room for improvement.
Although a student may apply themselves well, and dedicate a lot of effort to their learning, they might still struggle to achieve the grades they want. No two students are the same, and these performance shortfalls happen for many reasons. While one student may not know how best to tackle their revision, another student may struggle with nerves. Our Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen Easter revision courses teach students to overcome these obstacles and show them how to get the very best results.
While these courses can’t work miracles, they can make a very significant difference. Their methodology is simple – hard work, in a small team, focusing solely on assessments. Courses are run by experienced tutors, keen to achieve the very best results for their students. These instructors can plug gaps in understanding, teach students about exam formats, and provide examples of past papers. What’s more, they can also provide valuable insight into the requirements of the exam board, and how previous students have succeeded.
Most importantly, students will feel confident that they have kick-started their revision, and that they’re well on the way to exam confidence and, ultimately, exam success.
Small classes
Our classes typically contain around seven to ten students. By keeping class sizes small, we ensure that we’re delivering the very best support and advice to our students.
What happens on an Easter revision course?
During a course, students can expect to conduct an intensive study in a small group. They can expect their revision to be led by an experienced educator, and to finish the course amazed at how much content they’ve covered.
Not only do our courses provide students with lots of exam practice, they also give them valuable feedback on what the exam boards are looking for. This insight gives them a much more confident and guided approach to learning. By the end of the 4-day course, the wheels of revision will be in full motion, and students will find their summer term much less daunting, and easier to manage.
Will Easter revision help with the new linear exams?
The new A-level exam format presents students with an entirely new challenge. Fear not. Our course leaders are here to help, and they’re fully au-fait with the new papers. How can an Easter revision course help?
To be successful in summer exams, revising at Easter is very important. We know, however, that it’s difficult to conduct self-led learning during the school holidays. Attending an Easter revision course is an excellent way to get the ball rolling.
Not only do these courses focus students’ attention on revision, they also give them a structure to follow, and the chance to practice sitting the exams. Easter revision courses have a significant positive impact on performance. Once students are firmly on the right path, they can make best use of their evenings and weekends throughout the summer term.
We’ve always had excellent feedback from our students. Not only do they tell us that they felt much more prepared for their exams, they also tell us that their confidence levels increased dramatically after attending the course.

We also run Christmas revision courses
With a new year comes a new stage in the exam process – mocks. The Christmas break offers an excellent opportunity for students to get to grips with the exam process, and to point their learning in the right direction for their mock exams. Whilst it’s great to study alone at home, many students find it difficult to concentrate for very long. Especially at Christmas.
Through our Christmas revision courses, we offer the ideal revision environment. We separate students from the distractions of the home, and provide them with an opportunity to focus. Together with our expert teachers, everyone shares a common goal – exam success. Whilst our courses may be intensive, they are conducted in a fun and informal environment. This specialist environment, teamed with a collective commitment to learning, is our recipe for success.
We also run February half-term revision courses
With summer assessments on the horizon, the spring half-term break is a crucial time for revision. This is an excellent opportunity for students to really steer their exam preparation. Whilst it’s great to study at home, the home environment isn’t always ideal for learning. What’s more, many students tell us that they struggle to concentrate for very long at home.
During February and March, we run, intensive, half-term revision courses. These courses are run by experienced School teachers, in a relaxed environment. Guided by our teachers, students will be shown tips and tricks on how best to achieve the grades they’re aiming for.
